Dames At Sea
Part of MGA’s 2017 Winter Season
Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November at 7.30pm
Presented by our graduating Musical Theatre course students Upstairs at St Stephen’s Stockbridge as part of our 2017 Winter Season, we welcome Lisa Cottrell as director and Marc McBride returns as Musical Director.
A long-running hit Off Broadway that brought stardom to Bernadette Peters, this campy show is based on the nostalgia of Hollywood musicals of the ’30s. It’s big-time New York, into which sweet little Ruby from faraway Hometown, USA has come to make it big on Broadway. Who should she chance to meet but another boy from Hometown, USA: Dick, a sailor, who also has ambitions as a songwriter. Dick saves her doomed Broadway show with a smash tune, while Ruby, who begins in the chorus, by the end of the day (in true Hollywood fashion) becomes a star on the deck of a battleship, which just happens to be passing by. Selected as “Best Musical of the Year” by Time, Newsweek, and the Outer Critics Circle.
This performance has non-allocated seating. Tickets can be collected from MGA reception or will be available to collect at the theatre 30 minutes before the performance. Tickets are non-refundable.
